A Union Member’s Effort to Make School Systems Work Better for Educators

Cheektowaga Central Teachers Association member Alexander Baker knows firsthand how much time and energy educators lose to inefficient school systems. As a classroom teacher and instructional technology specialist, he has spent years working within the same platforms and processes that CCTA members rely on every day—often experiencing the same frustrations around duplicate work, unclear data, and tools that add stress instead of support.

Those shared challenges are what inspired Alexander to help create EduSchool, an educator-driven education technology platform currently in development. The goal of EduSchool is simple and aligned with union values: respect teachers’ time, reduce unnecessary workload, and give educators tools that work for them—not the other way around.

EduSchool is being designed with direct input from teachers and school professionals, focusing on simplifying everyday tasks, improving access to meaningful information, and reducing the administrative friction that pulls educators away from instruction, collaboration, and students. At its core, the project reflects a belief long shared by unions—that educators deserve a strong voice in decisions that affect their working conditions.

Alexander remains a proud member of the CCTA and sees this work as an extension of the same advocacy that unions represent: improving the professional lives of educators through thoughtful, teacher-centered solutions.
